Jorge Mendes, the super agent representing Jose Mourinho, has vehemently denied that the Portuguese manager wrote a ‘love letter’ to Manchester United.

According to Independent, the six-page ‘love letter’ allegedly written by Jose Mourinho outlined his plans for turning things around at the club, and came on the heels of United’s 1-0 loss to Southampton on Saturday.

Manchester United manager, Louis van Gaal is believed to be under pressure, after the latest loss confined the Old Trafford side to 37 points in 23 games, a massive ten points behind league leaders, Leicester City.

The report also claimed that Mourinho’s letter explained his strong desire for the job and his willingness to adhere to the club’s principles.

But in a statement through his agency Gestifute, Mendes described the report that his client might be lobbying for the United top job as “absolutely ridiculous and totally absurd”.

He wondered if anyone could ever think that a coach of Mourinho’s calibre could be lobbying for a job.

“It does not occur to anyone that a coach like Jose Mourinho can write letters to clubs offering their services,” Mendes was quoted as saying by Goal. “It is absolutely ridiculous and totally absurd.”
