“We need to work to avoid conceding goals from set pieces” – Carlo Ancelotti

Real Madrid in Wednesday’s Champions League match against Ludogorets made their first “Come Back” to win in an away game in Group Stage of UCL in 11 years.

Bulgarian club Ludorogets fought to stay in play at their home; Marcelinho earned them an early lead from Fabio Espinho’s corner.

Visiting Spanish champions Real Madrid however escaped with a 2 – 1 late victory following a penalty from Christiano Ronaldo and a header from Karim Benzema.

Manager Ancelotti gave kudus to the team for securing the three points, “I’m satisfied with tonight’s game, we got few chances but physically we were good,” he said.

Noting that Real Madrid defense still needs more work, having conceded similar goals against Real Sociedad and Atletico Madrid, he said:
“We must continue to work to fix our corner problem. It’s the same type of goal we conceded against Atletico Madrid and Real Sociedad. There should be better coverage at the near post, for instance. We are paying attention to this, though.

“We need to work to avoid conceding goals from set pieces.”

Confirming Ronaldo’s condition he said, “Cristiano received a blow, a little sore but not dangerous.”
