Renowned Nigerian comedienne, Helen Paul, has shared her triumph over societal stigma that accompanied her upbringing. In a recent viral clip on social media, Helen Paul revealed how she overcame challenges stemming from being born out of rape, facing derogatory labels, and enduring societal prejudice.

A few years ago, Helen Paul disclosed that she was born out of rape, shedding light on the adversity she faced. In the recent clip, she elaborated on the societal stigma, recounting how family members referred to her as a “bastard” and questioned her potential for success in life.

Some of us can’t take rejection. Some of us don’t know that our words can make someone feel rejected forever, but it worked for me differently,” Helen Paul expressed.

The comedienne shared insights into her challenging upbringing, stating, “I was born out of rape and I grew up with my grandmother, where everyone in the area called me a bastard. So I grew up hearing that I’m a bastard.” Helen Paul went on to recount how her family members, including her aunties, perpetuated the societal stigma by referring to her as such.

Despite the harsh words, Helen Paul highlighted the turning point in her life. She emphasized the impact of her grandmother’s love and support, even in the face of societal judgment. “Today, I am a comedian in Nigeria and a professor in the United States,” she proudly declared,
