Pastor Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has come under heavy backlash after he posted a controversial prayer on his verified Twitter account.

Read the tweet;

Father, let all protocols, rules and criteria be suspended, overlooked and overruled, as You did for Joseph, in order for me to be promoted, in Jesus’ name.

Pastor Adeboye

Nigerians have lashed out at Pastor E.A Adeboye over his prayers saying the General Overseer saying he is promoting mediocrity.

@KaposkiR

This is encouraging corruption and mediocrity. There are reasons for the protocols, rules and criteria for a better society.

@TJ_Blaq

This promotes anti-meritocracy, “luck” over hardwork, favoritism, nepotism, tribalism and undue process. One of the many reasons Nigeria is the way it is. I’m a Christian by the way.

@AdebolaYahoo

The mentality sold to poor, helpless and ignorant people. father lord has been answering this prayer in Nigeria since time immemorial, and that is why our public institutions are what they are today. Incompetent people working where they ought not to be.

@menty24

When due process and protocols are suspended and overlooked… Corruption is bound to creep in… That is the current state of the nation right now… Abandonment of protocols and due process..God help us all if we all can really be hoping no protocol should function for our sake

@TorToridb

God doesn’t break rules as a routine. It was done in special cases to achieve an objective, like Jesus walking on water. D number of retweets shows d lazy mindset of many Nigerians who expect reward without work. A sense of entitlement steeped in superstition. Backward mentality.

Which kind prayer be that? That is watin spoil Nigeria…… What is the purpose of rules and protocol? Is it not for fairness and organisation. This your prayer is called favouritism and nepotism…..its the bane of our development in Nigeria… We reject it

@daley_more

Bro me I just tire for these pastors, just how gullible do these men think we Are? When was rules and protocol suspended for Joseph, maybe it’s not the same Joseph that paid the price that so many people can’t pay for his greatness…these pastors are just theives I swear

@ANotoeOfficial

Which Joseph though, because the one I remember nothing was overlooked or rulled in his favour. The brother went to jail, the people he help forget him and was remembered in the 11th hour. All this encourage is laziness, corruption and mediocrity.
