Nigerians will beg Buhari to stay in 2019 – Arewa leader

2 Min Read

The Vice President of the Arewa Consultative Forum, Senator Abubakar Halilu Girei has said that come 2019 Nigerians will beg President Muhammed Buhari to stay on in Aso Rock for another four years.

In an interview with SUN, Girei said while it was to early to comment on 2019 political ambitions, President Muhammed Buhari would be rewarded with re-election for his performance in his first term.

He said, “Buhari as president of Nigeria is doing a good job. I don’t want to start enumerating what he has done because they have been enumerated in several publications. Several publications have captured the main essence of what he has been able to do in the last two and a half years.

“And I am one of those who are a hundred percent satisfied with his performance so far. I am also very sure that if we allow him to continue at the rate he is going, by this time next year we may be able to see a lot of things done that will convince us not even to wait for him to say he will contest the election it is the performance that will make us to compel him like we did before. You know at a point he withdrew from the race.

“It was people that went and pressurised him to come and contest. By this time next year I have no doubt in my mind that majority of Nigerians will come and beg Buhari to continue or to offer himself again for the 2019 presidential election. But we have not reached that stage yet. Just allow him, please to continue with the good work he is doing.”
