A man, Ganiyu Aikore, has been arrested in Ogun State for allegedly impregnating his 17-year-old daughter and procuring abortion drugs for her.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Omolola Odutola confirmed the suspect’s arrest.
Odutola said that Aikore was suspected of impregnating his daughter, adding that the pregnancy was already 23 weeks.
Having discovered that his daughter was pregnant, Aikore was said to have gone to a pharmaceutical store to buy some drugs suspected to be abortion pills.
His pregnant daughter, who suspected that her father was about to terminate the pregnancy, was said to have approached the Chairman of the Community Development Association (CDA) in the area to report the matter.
The chairman and some other concerned residents reportedly took the pregnant girl to Adatan Police Division to file complaints against the father, who was swiftly arrested.
