Nigerian music star Asake recently opened up about a pivotal moment in his career, highlighting the valuable guidance he received from his mentor, Olamide.
In a new interview, Asake shared his experience after receiving his first big paycheck from music. Thrilled with his success, he excitedly shared the news and a significant portion of his earnings (2 million naira) with his then-girlfriend. However, things took an unexpected turn when the girlfriend reportedly deemed the amount insufficient.
“This surprised me a lot,” Asake admitted, “because she came from a humble background, and I never expected that kind of reaction.“
Undeterred, Asake sought advice from his mentor, Olamide, a highly respected figure in the Nigerian music industry. Olamide’s counsel proved to be a turning point.
“Olamide advised me to leave the girl,” Asake revealed, “and to instead send the money to my mom.“
Asake followed Olamide’s advice, and the decision paid off. His mother reportedly used the money wisely, investing it in a successful provision store.
“I’m glad I listened to Olamide,” Asake concluded. “My mom is now financially independent, and I don’t have to worry about her calling me for money.“
