Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, the General Overseer of Believers Love World has threatened to sue media houses over their coverage of the divorce proceedings initiated by his wife, Anita Oyakhilome.

Speaking through his counsel, Mr. Kemi Pinheiro (SAN), the ‘man of God’ warned that despite his respect of the freedom of the media, he would not hesitate to sue any publication that distorted the facts in order to impugn the reputation of the Church and his person.

“The attention of our client, Rev. Chris Oyakhilome, and the church has been drawn to the wave of false, malicious and fabricated stories being published in the print and electronic media about his person, the church and a matrimonial cause between him and his wife,” Pinheiro said.

The lawyer also said the claims of adultery against the man of God were “false and malicious’. He also said the media presented a “complete distortion of the facts in the pending proceedings in the United Kingdom.”

His statement came after some Nigerian publications contacted Anita’s lawyers and confirmed the allegations of adultery insisted on by Anita.

Pinheiro added, “Be warned therefore that unless the concerned media houses desist from further publishing words and stories which are false and damaging of our client’s reputation and the church, we shall, without further recourse to the concerned publishers, promptly embark on appropriate legal machinery with a view to protecting our client’s reputation and that of the church.”
