Police Parade Suspected Criminals In Kano

The Kano State Police Command on Monday paraded suspected criminals that were arrested by officers of the command in different parts of the state.

On October 15, the command’s Ambush Squad while on patrol duty along Obasanjo Road sighted a man riding a tricycle known as Adai Dai Ta Sahu with registration number NSR 512 WZ in a suspicious manner.

When the suspect sighted the men on duty, he immediately abandoned the tricycle and took to his heels, which drew the attention of the police officers.

On spot search, 25 parcels of Indian hemp were found, and investigation is in progress to find the suspect through the state registration of all commercial tricycles in the state.

On the same date, the command officers arrested a suspected inter-state Indian hemp dealer identified as Deman Ugechukwu, who claimed to hail from Delta State, with 16 tyre rims filled with Indian hemp.

The suspect had reportedly pretended that he was taking the tyre for repairs because his car had a problem.

After further questioning, he started to fidget, which caused the officers to conduct a stop and search operation on him.

The officers reportedly found the parcel in the tyre, after which the suspect allegedly confessed his crime.

He stated that he usually hid the Indian hemp in the tyre to conceal them from law enforcement agents.

In a related development, the men of the command on Wednesday, picked up Rabiu Mohd of Kwanar Jaba, Kano; Abba Mustafa of Daneji Quarters, Kano; Yusuf Jada of Gezawa and Aminu Ibrahim of Kwanar Jaba Quarters, on allegations of being hard drug dealers.

They were equally accused of selling fake and expired drugs concealed in genuine-looking packs.

According to the command, these drugs included 32 cartons of different types of intoxicating drugs, 43 packs of penterzocine injection used as intoxicant, 27 packets of dizapem 500 of Extol tablets  and tramadol 500.

Other suspects were reportedly apprehended at Sabon Gari area of Kano.

These were identified as Ibe Ugo of 9 Burma Road and 55-year-old Vitus Nwagu of 19 Festing Road Sabon Gari, Kano;

Also, Chidozie Igegbuna, 37, was arrested in possession of wraps of substance suspected to be cocaine.

He was said to have injured a police officer in the process of being apprehended.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Magaji Musa Majiya affirmed that all the suspects will be charged to court on conclusion of investigations.

Majiya urged the public to report any suspected criminal in their neighbourhood to the police.
