As economic hardship in the country bites harder, more Nigerians are turning to comedy skits on the internet for a sort of relief, albeit a temporary one.
This has led to a proliferation of internet comedians in the country, with each one trying to outdo the other in the type of content produced so as to get higher viewership.
Perhaps caught in this rat race, an upcoming comedian identified as MC Freedom in the process of shooting a comedy skit got the beating of his life in a market in Ibadan after he dressed as a herbalist and went around the market asking if he could get a young virgin to use for rituals.
Frantic efforts by MC Freedom’s crew to convince the mob that descended on him that it was for a comedy skit only saved him from being lynched but not getting beaten and macheted.
