Tribunal Announces Date To Deliver Judgment On 2023 Presidential Election

The Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal (PEPT) has reportedly fixed Saturday, September 16 as the date to deliver its final ruling on the outcome of the 2023 presidential election.

While HeraldNG cannot authoritatively confirm the date, the Tribunal, according to the Constitution, has up till September 16, 2023 ( which is a Maximum of 180 days of filing of Petitions) to deliver judgment on the petitions challenging the electoral victory of President Bola Tinubu who was the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the February 25 elections.

It would be recalled that after adopting the final written addresses of the parties involved in the suit, the five-man tribunal headed by Justice Haruna Simon Tsamani reserved judgment and said a date to deliver the verdict would be communicated to concerned parties and their lawyers.

The aforementioned date is the final day available for the tribunal to deliver its judgment on the three petitions instituted by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the Labour Party (LP), and the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) together with their presidential candidates, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, Mr. Peter Obi, and Princess Chichi Ojei respectively.

The defendants in the cases are Tinubu, the APC, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). However, the tribunal is yet to make an official statement on the date to deliver its ruling.

Charly Boy Sends Message To Obidients

In the same vein, Nigerian entertainer, Charles Oputa, known by his stage name, Charly Boy Area Fada 1 has claimed the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal has fixed September 16 for judgment on the petitions challenging the victory of President Bola Tinubu.

Charly Boy in a post on his official X handle, urged supporters of Obi known as Obidients to get ready for the judgement.

The post reads, “OBIDIENTS ARE U Ready? Tribunal (PEPT) has announced that the judgment date for the cases involving Peter Obi and the Labour Party against Bola Tinubu, INEC, Shettima, and APC, as well as the PDP’s case of Atiku against APC, INEC, and Tinubu, is scheduled for September 16, 2023.”
