Sakho apologises for leaving Anfield before Merseyside Derby

Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho has apologised for making a bad decision by leaving Anfield before the Merseyside derby against Everton.

The French international was left out of the squad, with Dejan Lovren and Mertin Skrtel selected ahead of him and was pictured by a supporter leaving the stadium before the game started.

“I’m aware it was a bad choice from my part,” Sakho wrote on his Facebook page, and on Twitter.

The game ended in a draw after Phil Jagielka’s stoppage time equaliser cancelled out Steven Gerrard’s opener.

Sakho had appeared in the club’s first seven games this season.
