Saudi Arabia Urges Muslims to Quit Smoking during Ramadan

Saudi Arabian Ministry of Health has urged Muslim smokers to utilise the month of Ramadan to quit smoking.

Health Ministry Spokesman Khalid Al-Mirghalani while speaking with Arab News said the holy month of Ramadan is the best month for Smokers to quit smoking.

He said “The hand that touches the holy Qur’an during the month, would definitely refuse to touch tobacco.”

Al-Mirghalani explained that it would not be difficult for smokers to continue the abstention from tobacco between the period from breakfast and Suhoor (predawn meal).

Saudi Arabia has a total of 7 million smokers, the country ranks fourth in the world in tobacco imports and consumption.
