Senate Minority Leader, Akpabio Flown To London

Senate Minority Leader Godswill Akpabio has left for London in a private jet belonging to the Akwa Ibom State government following his car crash yesterday morning.

He is said to have left the country via the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport this morning accompanied by a cardiologist and a general doctor.

Akpabio was involved in a car crash early Monday morning, which left him briefly admitted at the trauma centre of the National Hospital in Abuja.

Akpabio was was said to be traumatised and in shock after the crash which involved two SUVs.

Though doctors national hospital later gave him a clean bill of health and discharged him Monday evening, sources close to the former governor said that he is going to a London hospital to seek further evaluation and possible treatment.

The United States Embassy in Abuja Monday evening confirmed Akpabio’s armoured Mercedes Benz G63 AMG crashed into an armoured Suburban SUV in a US diplomatic convoy at the Bollingo Hotel junction in the capital city. There was no casualty in the crash which occurred at about 7.30 am.
