Shittu Accuses Oyo state Governor Ajimobi of Skipping NYSC

Apparently disgruntled by his disqualification from contesting for the governorship ticket of Oyo state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on grounds that he skipped the mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme, Minister of Communications, Adebayo Shittu has pointed accusing fingers at the Governor of Oyo state, Abiola Ajimobi for allegedly skipping NYSC too.

Adebayo Shittu had been disqualified from the Oyo governorship race by the leaders of the party after the minister admitted that he deliberately skipped NYSC because he felt his membership of the Oyo House of Assembly after he graduated from the university had served as national youth service.

The admission had come after reports circulated that Kemi Adeosun was not the only minister in Buhari’s cabinet to skip the mandatory scheme for Nigerian graduates.

Kemi Adeosun had resigned her position as Minister of Finance after being caught in an NYSC certificate forgery scandal.

Adebayo Shittu accused Ajimobi while appearing on a political programme on Channels Television “Politics Today” on Sunday.

In that programme, Shittu had said that Ajimobi, who has already indicated that he would be running for senate after his tenure as governor, allegedly does not have NYSC certificate.

He further alleged that the basis for his disqualification by the party was orchestrated by the erstwhile governor of the state because he (Shittu) woiuld jail Ajimobi should he get to be the governor of Oyo state,

Adebayo Shittu however said he had taken steps to seek redress on the issue including writing a petition to the National Working Committee of the APC over his disqualification as well as going to court over the issue of his skipping NYSC.

He further vilified the process of primary elections in the state chapter of the party stating that the indirect governorship primary was an exercise in futility.
