The prompt intervention of soldiers and policemen from the Lagos State Police Command on Monday prevented what could have been a bloody clash between boys loyal to two leaders of road transport unions in Lagos, Alhaji Musiliu Akinsanya aka MC Oluomo and Azeez Abiola aka Istijabah in the Agbado-Ijaiye area of Lagos State.

It was gathered that scores of policemen in riot gear, and no fewer than 12 soldiers, stormed the Ijaiye bus-stop scene of the imminent clash and succeeded in aborting it.

A witness said that the security personnel remained at the scene for several hours just as boys numbering more than 100 from either side sized each other opposite them.

The witness said that the security agents were deployed to the area following an intelligence report of an imminent clash.

“About 40 policemen and 12 soldiers came very this morning to prevent a clash between Istijabah and MC Oluomo boys,” the tricycle operator named David said.

He said that there would have been a violent clash between both factions but for the presence of the security operatives.

It was learnt that despite the presence of the security agents, traders hurriedly closed their shops and went back home.

A trader said they were only able to open their shops after the area boys and the security agents left.
