“Tales by moonlight” – Nigerians slam CAN chairman over Fani-Kayode prophecy

The Lagos State Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Apostle Alex Bamgbola, has been criticised for prophesying that former Aviation Minister, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode would be president someday.

He stated this on Sunday, August 30 at the 31st-year anniversary of the call to ministry of Bishop Isaac Idahosa, the General Overseer of God First Ministry.

“If you do not compromise yourself, God said I should tell you, you will one day rule this nation,” Bamgbola said.

A video of the incident was captured by Legit and has been making waves on the internet.

But reacting on Twitter, many Nigerians expressed doubt in the prophecy and mocked the CAN chairman.

“Which CAN was the chairman drinking from?” an On-Air-Personality (OAP), Olajumoke Alawode-James, queried.

Another user, Lawal Abdullahi Giza said, “Tales by moonlight.I will relocate to Venezuela when that happens.”

Cephas Kadiri stated, “He will rule Christian association of Nigeria in Jesus name amen!”

Dayo Akinwale wrote, “I could remember the hundreds of traditional staffs pointed at Jonathan during his reelection bid by the traditional rulers, upon all, na failure.. FFK has no moral compass to rule at any elective position. Even in his Local government area, he can’t be elected as Chairman.”

Obong Ekpe also mocked the CAN chairman by posing the same question that incensed Fani-Kayode during a press conference in Calabar, Cross River State on August 20.

The ex-minister insulted a journalist, Mr Eyo Charles of Dail Trust, for daring to ask who was bankrolling his tour of some Southern states.

He asked: “CAN Chairman, who is bankrolling you???”

Tweeting via @rotilaw, another user described the statement as “unfortunate”.

The user added, “Statements such as this drag CAN into the arena of partisan politics and undermines its ability to effectively represent Christians in the country.”
