The 12th Bola Tinubu Colloquium scheduled for March 29 has been postponed indefinitely over fears of coronavirus.

The colloquium is an annual event organised to commemorate the birthday of the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Tinubu will be 68th on March 29.

It was proposed as “a platform for sharing knowledge, experience and information around socio-economic and governance issues”.

According to organisers, this year’s event was to focus on education and technology as a tool for socio-economic development in Nigeria.

“After careful consultation with all relevant stakeholders regarding the health and safety of all our guests, we have made the difficult decision to postpone the 12th Bola Tinubu Colloquium, scheduled for March 29th 2020 in Lagos, till further notice,” a statement from the planning committee read in part.

Mrs. Foluso Idumu, who signed the statement on behalf of the committee, added, “Following increased and overwhelming concerns about the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, we felt this was the best way to proceed during such an unprecedented global situation.

“We are however certain that this is the right decision given the prevailing circumstances.

The Herald recalls that the 11th colloquium held on March 29, 2019, with the theme, ‘Investing in People: Jobs and the Economy’.
