U.S secret space-plane lands in Florida

Two years ago the U.S military launched a spaceplane into Earth’s orbit, the unpiloted X-37B landed in NASA’s Florida airstrip on Sunday after what has been a record-long orbital flight.

U. S. Airforce said the X-37B which was built by Boeing Co. landed in NASA’s Kennedy Space Center at 3:51 a.m. ET after spending 780 days orbiting Earth. It’s the size of a small bus and shared design features with NASA’s Space Shuttle.

The spaceplane was sent into orbit in 2017 propelled by a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket to conduct a series of classified technology research for the Pentagon managed by Washington-based, Air Force Rapid Capabilities Office.

Newly appointed space secretary, Barbara Barret said, “The X-37B continues to demonstrate the importance of a reusable spaceplane,”  “Each successive mission advances our nation’s space capabilities.” she added.

“The sky is no longer the limit for the Air Force and, if Congress approves, the U.S. Space Force,” General David L. Goldfein, Chief of Staff of the Air Force, said.
