Renowned Nollywood actress, Victoria Inyama, recently opened up about the emotional and physical trauma she endured during her marriage, attributing it to her estranged husband’s erratic behavior linked to the performance of his favorite football club, Manchester United.
In a candid interview with Chude Jideonwo, Inyama shared the distressing details of how her ex-husband, Godwin Okrim, would transfer his frustration and aggression onto her whenever Manchester United experienced a setback on the football field. The actress disclosed that the intensity of her husband’s reaction was such that he would resort to physical violence, subjecting her to beatings on multiple occasions.
She revealed, “I hate Man Utd, ehn. The number of beatings wey dem beat me because Man United lose match ehn.”
Inyama went on to emphasize that the trauma from those experiences still lingers to this day. Not only does she harbor a strong dislike for the football club, but the mere act of watching Manchester United lose a match serves as a triggering reminder of the abuse she endured in the past.
“I am still dealing with it. Even up to today when there is a football match and Man U loses, I am like Thank God, today would have been a beating day. Even my son knows and would be laughing,” she expressed during the interview.
