The rumour mill has been agog with reports that media mogul Diddy and blossoming rapper J Cole got into a fight at a MTV VMA after party in New York yesterday.

Here is how the NYPOST is reporting it:

Sean “Diddy” Combs ended up in the middle of a scuffle at his and Jay Z’s star-studded MTV Video Music Awards after-party.

In a room packed with BeyoncéRihannaLeo DiCaprioJamie FoxxPharrell Williams andJustin Timberlake, tensions boiled over between rappers J. Cole and Combs.

A witness at the PH-D rooftop lounge at the Dream Downtown told us, “J. Cole was saying inappropriate things to Sean Combs and his girlfriend, Cassie. Sean immediately pounced. Some pushing and shoving happened. No punches were thrown, but it was a visible disturbance. A few bottles splashed to the floor and some partygoers were knocked over, falling on top of Renee Graziano from ‘Mob Wives.’ ”

Other witnesses described it as a 3 a.m. “dust-up” that started after multiple bottles of Diddy’s Ciroc had been downed. Combs walked out of the melee and seemed untroubled, immediately making his way to the mike to welcome everyone to the VMA bash, and wished Cassie a happy birthday.

The party carried on with DiCaprio, who was surrounded by models including his girlfriend, Toni Garrn, at his own table, sipping neat D’Ussé cognac and smoking an electronic cigarette.

Timberlake arrived with wife Jessica Biel and *NSYNC bandmates Joey Fatone and Chris Kirkpatirck at about 2 a.m. They headed over to hip-hop impresario Timbaland’s table, where they immediately popped multiple bottles of Ace of Spades. Jessica started dancing up a storm with Fatone and Kirkpatrick as JT moved to Jay and Diddy’s table.

Meanwhile, Drake arrived shortly after Rihanna. A witness tells us, “She was the first person he kissed on the cheek. Then he headed right over to Diddy and Jay, and they invited him to sit at their table. Drake later joined Meek MillTrey Songz and Kevin Hart. The group stood on top of the tables and couches, belting out the words to every Drake song the DJ played.”

Reps for Combs and J. Cole declined to comment.
