Former Rivers State Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, has said his successor, Chief Ezebunwo Nyesom Wike knows that he doesn’t like money so he cannot be a thief.

Amaechi also added that the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state will not will not withdraw its governorship election petition.

Amaechi, who spoke on Saturday in Port Harcourt while addressing members and supporters of the APC said “I have been listening while in Abuja, Nyesom Wike accusing me of corruption and I laugh. Even Nyesom Wike knows that I don’t like money; he knows that.

“He has told me severally that we will not run election without money. He said it is not the number of roads or numbers of schools that we constructed that we will use to run election. How suddenly did I change from that man that I used to be to become a thief.

“What Nyesom Wike has done is knowing that the public will not have access to documents, he brought out government documents and said, see N70 billion in the document. We have shown our own documents. We are ready for them.

“Nyesom Wike knows that I don’t fight shy. If Wike likes, he should bring all the documents. The funny thing about the young man is that he knows that I know him. I know Nyesom Wike up to his companies. I have documents to show that he is a contractor.

“Rivers people forget easily and that annoys me. During the campaigns, I named the roads Nyesom Wike abandoned. Some of them, he is reconstructing after we had him and no Rivers man is talking. The road from Eneka to Rukpokwu was done by Nyesom Wike. When you see Nyesom Wike, let him publish one company that I owe.

“The pressure Nyesom Wike is putting on us for somebody to call us together for a meeting; let us reconcile and withdraw the case in Court. Even if Peterside withdraws, I, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi will not withdraw.

“Even if Peterside withdraws, the party has the right to go to court because the law of Nigeria says there is no independent candidate. So, it is not Peterside that ran the election, it is the party that ran the election. Even if Peterside withdraws, APC will carry the case to the Supreme Court.”
