The increased bombing activities of the Niger Delta Avengers in the Niger Delta region following the militant group’s promise to cripple oil production in the country has forced the president, Muhammadu Buhari to seek help from past administrations

According to reports, Buhari is currently reviewing the late president Umaru Musa Yar’Adua’s administration gazette as one of the possible ways to bring a lasting solution to the Niger Delta crisis.

It is believed Buhari’s review of the past administration’s gazette is to verify the terms of agreement between the Federal Government and the Niger Delta region contained in the document and verify its implementation.

While assuring the Federal Government’s commitment to solving the current crisis in the Niger Delta region, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina said: “Every effort is being made to restore calmness to the Niger Delta, including consultation, and taking a fresh look at the gazette signed by the Umaru Yar’Adua government, so that the agreements contained therein will be implemented.”
