Bears Dominate Market, As All Share Index Depreciates by 0.05%

Despite positive investor sentiments towards the end of trading today, the All Share Index lost 0.05% compared to a 0.57% depreciation it recorded yesterday. The index ended the week just above the 30,000 psychological line at 30,011.89 basis points, losing 13 basis points. Market Capitalization for the market at the close of trading today was N10.31 trillion.

All indices ended today in red. The total number of deals recorded on the floor dipped by 12.09% compared to an increase of 7.01% recorded yesterday as 2,604 deals were struck on the floor of the exchange. The total volume of shares traded on the floor reduced by 46.79% after increasing by 36.88% in yesterday’s trading session, while the total value of transactions recorded dropped by 39.46% compared to 18.07% it lost yesterday.

The Gainers list was led by GUARANTY which gained N0.5 to close at N24.50, closely followed by UAC-PROP and CCNN which gained 0.40 and 0.29 Kobo respectively. The Losers list led by OKOMUOIL lost N1.60 to close at N30.56, closely followed by PZ and WAPCO which lost N1.10 and N1 respectively.

The NSE 30 index depreciated by 0.05%, the Banking Sector index appreciated by 0.25% and the Oil and Gas index lost 0.69%.

The top five most actively traded shares by volume on the exchange today were DIAMONDBNK, UBA, ACCESS, GUARANTY and SKYEBANK with a combined total of 74 million shares traded.

Market breadth closed negative as GUARANTY led 18 Gainers against 22 Losers led by OKOMUOIL.

Year-To-Date currently stands at -13.40%.
