Boko Haram violates Ramadan as explosion envelopes Maiduguri market

Boko Haram has violated the spirit of Ramadan, attacking a market in Maiduguri and killing at least five people in the early hours of this morning.

“A van loaded with charcoal and IED [improvised explosive device] exploded at Monday Market in Maiduguri this morning. The location has been cordoned,” a tweet from the Defence HQ said.

The attack, believed to be carried out by a suicide bomber was carried out using a vehicle disguised as carrying charcoal.

The driver of the vehicle is believed to have perished in the attack.
