Monday night, Brandy and Monica took the stage at the Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta for a Verzuz battle that brook Instagram live record.
According to Verzuz’s official Twitter account, their matchup set a new record for the series, garnering over 1.2 million viewers on Instagram Live alone.
The battle marked the first time Brandy and Monica have been in the same room since their last collaboration which was in 2012.
Since the late ’90s, the singers have been entangled in a feud, and there were undoubtedly some tense moments throughout the battle, but they put that aside to join forces and show the power of R&B.
Before they started their battle, Brandy and Monica offered a tribute to actor Chadwick Boseman, who passed away from colon cancer on August 28.
Senator Kamala Harris made a surprise appearance during the digital show, which raised over $250,000 for When We All Vote, and garnered 35,000 clicks to register to vote.

In a heartfelt message to Brandy on Tuesday evening, Monica noted that her prayers have been answered. She also disclosed that communication and compassion bridged a gap that not many will understand.
She wrote: “My Prayers have been said as well as Many of them answered ! Communication & Compassion bridged a gap that not many will understand! I celebrate you @brandy … Your legacy , Music & Catalogue are undeniable!!”
