Caught On Tape: Libyan Leader, Muammar Gaddafi’s Final Moments Before Execution

1 Min Read

A short video has emerged of the final moment before long-time Libyan leader, Colonel Muammar Gaddafi was executed by rebels in the Libyan city of Sirte in 2011.

The video was obtained by the BBC from one of the rebel fighters, Ayman Almani, in the Libyan city of Misrata.

In the video captioned with a mobile phone, the 67-year-old Libyan strongman could be seen pleading with the rebels for his life.

The BBC reporter who obtained the video quoted the source as that it was captured by one of the rebel fighters who dragged Gaddafi out of a drain he was hiding in.

In the video footage, frenzied scenes of rebel fighters jubilating on the bonnet of a truck could be seen as they struggled to get a glimpse of the deposed leader shortly before he was executed, purportedly with a golden pistol which he carried on his person.
