The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has made provisions for Nigerians to report agents of Point-of-Sale (POS) terminals selling new naira notes and those selling charging exorbitantly for withdrawal.

Director, CBN Governor’s Department, Mr. Joseph Omayuku said that the apex bank has made emergency telephone numbers available to the public to lodge complaints, while warning syndicates engaging in illegal practices to desist forthwith.

Omayuku spoke at a press briefing in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital on Tuesday.

He said erring POS agents could be reported by reaching out to the CBN contact centre on 07002255226; Telephone Ext: 711025 – 7; [email protected] and its social media handles.

Nigerians have been lamenting bitterly about non-availability of cash at Automated Teller Machines (ATM) points, POS terminals and over-the-counter since the CBN announced that the old N200, N500 and N1,000 notes would cease to be legal tender on February 10.
