Fernando Torres may also be about to leave the club for a move to AC Milan, and Hernandez’s potential availability has alerted Jose Mourinho in the final few days of the transfer window.
The Mexican international has been linked with the club in the past, and is on the radar of a number of Europe’s giants this summer as he remains a highly regarded talent for his impressive goalscoring record in limited appearances for United.
The Red Devils would no doubt prefer to sell Hernandez abroad, but may yet offload him if they fail to attract buyers for another unwanted forward, Danny Welbeck.
