Chelsea striker could be out for six weeks

Chelsea suffered an injury scare in training on Wednesday after Diego Costa pulled up with a hamstring injury which might keep him out for up to six weeks.  Chelsea are hoping further assessment will show the injury isn’t as bad as feared and the player has not given up on facing Everton this weekend.

The Blues have a tough run of fixtures coming up, they first go away to Everton this weekend. After that ,  they are home to Everton, away to Manchester City and then home to Aston Villa and Arsenal.

Not having Costa for the games against Everton, City and Arsenal could prove to be a disappointing blow for the London side.  Chelsea only have 36 year old Didier Drogba and a misfiring Fernando Torres as reinforcements. Jose Mourinho could potentially deploy Andre Schurrle in a central position, but he is best out wide.

There are also burning rumours that Fernando Torres will finally be leaving the club before the end of the transfer window. This might force Chelsea to head into the market again for another striker, Chelsea have been linked with Roma’s Destro for a better part of this month. Radamel Falcao has been added to the list of potential acquisitions in the wake of Costa’s injury.
