In a revealing episode of The Receipts Podcast, fast-rising Nigerian singer Crown Uzama, popularly known as Shallipopi, bared his heart on the complexities of love, past heartbreak, and the financial windfalls in the music industry.
Shallipopi shared that his hesitancy to fall in love stems from the challenges presented by the current generation of ladies. In a candid moment, he admitted, “I am a lover of love but I do not love because of the way this generation is.” The singer opened up about having a fragile heart, attributing it to a past heartbreak that left him emotionally scarred. Reflecting on a previous relationship, he disclosed, “Someone broke my heart in the past. We were in a relationship, then something happened and we broke up. The fault was not from me.”
Despite the heartache, Shallipopi emphasized his love for love but expressed his reservations due to the complexities of modern relationships. He clarified that he is currently single and not actively searching but is “patiently waiting for somebody that can match my vibe.”
In a surprising revelation from December 2023, Shallipopi publicly declared his admiration for his colleague Odumodublvck, going so far as to claim he loves Odumodublvck more than his girlfriend. This admission came after Odumodublvck’s performance at Davido’s concert in Abuja, where Shallipopi enthusiastically shared a clip of the performance on his X social platform.
Shallipopi and Odumodu had previously collaborated on the track ‘Cast,’ featured on Shallipopi’s debut album ‘Presido La Pluto.’ The camaraderie between the two artists has become evident not only in their musical collaboration but also in Shallipopi’s open expression of affection.
Addressing his financial success in the music industry, Shallipopi likened music money to a form of ritual, emphasizing its abundant and continuous nature. In response to a question about balancing finances and family contributions, Shallipopi remarked, “Music money is like a ritual, and there’s too much money in music that you cannot understand at all. Even if you’re an artist that came out in one month and your song is just big, no worry.”
Shallipopi’s success story began with the release of “Elon Musk” in 203, catapulting him into the spotlight. He subsequently signed with Dvpper Music Distribution, a Nigerian music record distribution founded by Damillola Akinwunmi.
