A 44 year old man and indigene of Imo State, Israel Dike, attempted to sell his seven children until officials from the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development intervened.

The man who tied his children, including a set of triplets to a wheel barrow and was leading them to an unknown destination decried his economic situation and failed promises made personally to him by Governor Rochas Okorocha as responsible for his ordeal.

A ministry source told journalists, “Following a tip off, a high powered team led by the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs. Nma Onyechere, quickly went and rescued the children.”

The man said, “Owelle Okorocha is the cause of what I am passing through today. He made me a promise in the past and has failed to redeem it till today.”

The commissioner described the man as mentally deranged and said the children would be handed over to foster parents.
