A Canada-based Nigerian lady says there is nothing fun about schooling abroad, especially in the North American country where she is schooling.
The lady stated this in a video she shared on social media.
“There’s absolutely nothing funny about schooling abroad, most especially Canada,” she stated.
The lady said that the school workload was exceedingly heavy, noting that many of the courses on offer were pretty expensive.
“I’m not even worried about not having enough money; I’m worried about balancing my grades because it’s expensive here. One course costs almost CA$3,000. Imagine how much that is in naira.
“If you fail that course, you’ll have to pay again to retake it. Do you know what that means?” she queried.
She lamented that many Nigerians were tricked into moving abroad with assurances that they would easily get jobs, even while schooling, to support themselves financially.
She said she got to Canada to discover this was not the case.
“I’m tired. My mental health is…it’s draining. I’m lonely. I’m broke. They say once you get here you will get a job. It’s a lie. They are lying. Everybody is lying. It is not so easy to get a job,” the lady said.
She complained that it was particularly worrisome that one still had to pay bills, which are expensive, whether they can get a job or not.
“Without getting (a) job, you pay bills, house rent. The least apartment you can get in Canada is CA$500. You’ll pay house rent, buy bus pass, buy groceries. You’ll wear clothes. You’ll live. Most of us here can’t be calling our parents back home. Most of us came here to fend for ourselves,” she said.
“The only thing that’s free in this Canada is aesthetics and vibes,” she stressed.
