Leave Danjuma, Tackle Herdsmen Crisis – Northern Christians Urge Buhari

1 Min Read

The Congress of Northern Nigeria Christians (CNNC) has called on the presidency to stop castigating TY Danjuma for calling on Nigerians to defend themselves against killers across the country.

The group said that instead, the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration should concentrate on ending wanton killings and destruction of properties by armed herdsmen.

Recall that Minister of Defence, Brig.-Gen. Mansur Dan-Ali (rtd) had described Danjuma’s statement as a “call to anarchy” and called on Nigerians to disregard it.

Chairman of CNNC, Prof Adamu Bakie made this known in Kaduna on Monday, adding that Danjuma, a former Defence Minister, had the right to express his views on any issue in the country.

Bakie further lamented the continued detention of Leah Sharibu, one of the Dapchi girls, by Boko Haram, saying the issue could further divide the nation across religious lines.

Recall that the returned girls had said that Sharibu, the only Christian among them, was not released for failing to renounce her faith.
