President Goodluck Jonathan has urged politicians, traditional rulers and opinion leaders to ensure that they maintain peace and tranquility as the nation moves ahead towards the 2015 general elections.

The President stated this during his visit to Kaduna yesterday to inaugurate the new Government House Complex.

President Jonathan said: “I am happy that the governor is working with traditional rulers and opinion leaders in the state and peace has returned to the state. I agree with you totally that this is the time to build our communities.”

“This is the time to build our state and country. And I am pleased that the state has returned to normalcy. And I plead with my great people of this great state that as the 2015 elections are coming, we should not witness what happened in 2011 in Kaduna State again.”

The President advised the people of the state that “nobody in the name of politics should deceive us to destroy ourselves while he and his family remain untouched.”

He explained that since the nation can conquer the spread of the dreaded Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) in Nigeria, the people could also conquer violence and crisis.

In his own remarks, Governor Yero said “I consider it a privilege to have seen to the successful completion of this legacy project, which was conceived in 2008, by the Vice President, Namadi Sambo, who was at that time the executive governor of our state.

“This new Governor’s Office was one of major projects initiated at that time with the aim of providing our people with critical infrastructure that supports efficient delivery of services and good governance.”
