Mathieu Debuchy gives Arsenal an injury boost as he steps up his recovery

Mathieu Debuchy has given Arsenal fans hope by revealing he is hard at work at the gym.

The French defender is still not expected back to full fitness after his ankle ligament operation  before Christmas.

Both himself and fellow countryman Olivier Giroud are expected to be back in full training by the end of December.

The player took to his twitter page and posted three photographs of himself in the gym at Arsenal’s London Colney training ground, saying to fans: ‘’Good session yesterday. Thanks for your messages.’’

The French pair could be available for the FA Cup third round weekend, and possibly even earlier if their recoveries continue to be ahead of schedule.

Meanwhile, Arsene Wenger is confident that both Kieran Gibbs and Mikel Arteta will be fit for Saturday’s visit of Burnley.

The England defender was forced off during the win at Sunderland with a hip problem while Arteta reported a thigh strain but both are now expected to be available to take on Sean Dyche’s side ahead of the Champions League return against Anderlecht.
