Missing Girls: First Lady summons Borno Police Commissioner, others

The First Lady, Patience Jonathan has summoned the Borno State Police Commissioner and other stakeholders to a meeting at the Aso Villa in Abuja today (Sunday) in order to get to the bottom of the missing girls saga that has captivated the attention of the country and the world.

Other individuals summoned include the senior wife of the Borno State Governor, Nana Kashima Shettima, the state Commissioner for Education, the chairman of the local government, the divisional police officer in charge of Chibok, the wife of the village head, the school principal and the school gateman.

Also summoned are the chairman and secretary of the school’s Parents Teachers Association, two parents of the missing children,  two parents whose children have returned home, and two teachers from the school.

Other prominent women expected to attend the meeting were Helen Mark, wife of the Senate President; Onyeka Onwenu; Florence Ita-Giwa;  Kema Chikwe; Felicia Sani; and Sarah Jibril. These women were at an earlier edition of the meeting held on Friday.

Speaking on her involvement in the matter, Mrs. Jonathan recalled that during the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, the former President could call her husband, who was then the Bayelsa State governor in the middle of the night if any news of kidnapping was reported.
