Joseph Aloba, the father of the late Nigerian musician, Mohbad, has clarified his reasons for insisting that a DNA test for his deceased son’s child, Liam, should be conducted in his presence. This decision is aimed at resolving the ongoing controversy concerning the child’s paternity and addressing other related issues involving the late singer.

In an interview with Stams TV, Joseph Aloba emphasized the necessity of the DNA test to put an end to the heated debate among Nigerians. He also dismissed rumors that the test had already been conducted, particularly following a post by popular skit maker OGBCultist, who is believed to be a friend of Mohbad.

Aloba stated, “Concerning the DNA test, it’s a must they do it. Nigerians are demanding it. I heard rumors that they did it, but no matter what, I’m Mohbad’s father, so I’ll give consent to the DNA test or send anyone who can represent me during the test if I’m not there to know how they’ll do it. And even when they want to do it, it should be done in two different places so we can be very sure and know the truth.

He went on to express the cultural significance of the matter, explaining, “Also, where I am from in Ikere Ekiti, even Olu Ikere just left my side now after visiting me. We don’t accept bastards where I’m from, but it will be a thing of joy for me if this child is Mohbad’s because this is the only child he said he left for me.”

The controversy surrounding Mohbad’s death has sparked nationwide protests and led to widespread discussions. His passing on September 12, 2023, at the age of 27, has raised concerns, and his father’s call for a DNA test is expected to help resolve the paternity dispute and provide closure to the matter.

The late singer’s death remains a subject of investigation, with his former label boss Naira Marley and associate Sam Larry among the five prime suspects.
