Rio 2016: Usain Bolt Makes History With 3rd Successive Gold Medal

2 Min Read

Usain Bolt is the fastest man and in under ten seconds he left no one in any doubt of that fact.

The Jamaican sprinter won the 100-metre event in track and field in a runaway and in the process became the first person to capture three straight 100-metre titles at the Olympics.

Usain Bolt as is his usual fashion started slowly, but gradually gained on, caught up with, and then surpassed American sprinter Justin Gatlin who was the subject of boos.

He even had time to point at his chest in celebration before the finish line knowing fully well that he had won the race.

While it was not his fastest race or indeed his best, it was still good enough to win him the gold medal in a stunning race. On his victory he said, “I am a living legend, Somebody said if I win these three gold medals I would be immortal and I kind of liked it. So I’m going to run with that one.

“I’m happy and I’m proud of myself. It wasn’t perfect execution, but I’m proud of myself. I wanted to set myself apart from everybody else and this is the Olympics, I have to do it.

“I came to this Olympics to win three gold medals, to prove myself again as one of the greats.”
