Side Effects of Postinor-2 Pills, How Effective Are They?

POSTINOR-2  pill is a type of emergency birth control (contraception). Emergency contraception is used to prevent pregnancy for women who’ve had unprotected sex or whose birth control method has failed.

It is also given in times of emergency, Emergencies include being raped, having a condom break or slip off during sex, or missing two or more birth control pills during a monthly cycle.

Postinor-2  pill is best taken 48-72 hours after unprotected sex. It is the most common morning-after pill in the market right now.

Postinor-2 is a single pill solution: only 1 pill, and you can easily avoid abortion. There is 1 pill in the pack. You have to take the POSTINOR pill within 72 hours of having unprotected sex.

Some packs may come with two tablets, research shows that the second tablet shout be taken exactly 12 hours after the first dose of POSTINOR-2, the sooner the better!

Emergency oral contraception is used to prevent a pregnancy, not end one.

But note that the morning-after pill isn’t the same as mifepristone (Mifeprex), also known as RU-486 or the abortion pill. This drug terminates an established pregnancy.

Levonorgestrel is a hormone that can be used for emergency contraception. Emergency contraception should not be used as a routine method of birth control.

Some of the side effects of the POSTINOR-2  pill include:

  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Dizziness
  • Fatigue
  • Headache
  • Breast tenderness
  • Bleeding between periods or heavier menstrual bleeding
  • Lower abdominal pain or cramps

But note that Using the morning-after pill may delay your period by up to one week. If you don’t get your period within three to four weeks of taking the morning-after pill, take a pregnancy test.
