3 Min Read

Most people don’t know this but statistics have it that the average Nigerian consumes about 4000 to 5000 calories in a day. Don’t believe me? Let us calculate.

Egusi with pounded yam and yes, assorted has about 2000 calories.                                   Rice and stew with meat, say about 1500 calories.                                                             Indomie and suya downed with Coke that is probably another 1500 calories.                         I won’t even get started on the in between snacks; the gala, plantain chips, meat pie etc

So if you enjoy the kind of eating habit and don’t want to bulk up that excess fat, you will have to double up on the exercise. So here are a few exercises that can easily be done to burn that fat fast.

Run for your life!

The typical runner’s shape is sleek and lean, and there’s a reason for that: The major running muscles — legs, butt, happen to be the biggest calorie-and-fat-burning muscles in your body. To get the most out of each stride, swing your arms close to your body, don’t lean forward, and keep your feet low to the ground. To lessen impact, land on the middle of your foot, then roll through to your toes. You could burn well over 300 in 30 minutes.

To make this even more effective, alternate fast and slow intervals, or take to the hills.

Push up hard

Push ups are a total body exercise that are easily modified and can be made to be very challenging, even for the most avid exerciser. If a regular push up feels too easy for you, try the single leg push up.

Skip! Skip!! Skip!!!

Did you know skipping is the best cardio exercise ever? Skipping burns as much fat as running if not more and it can be done easily at intervals. This simple at home cardio essential is an excellent way to get your heart rate up quickly. Add it in between strength training sets to keep your caloric burn high.

Treadmill

Treadmill is a very effective way to also burn calorie fast. Just like running but the intensity is higher and consistency is required here. Keep going!
