Enugu State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal has dismissed the petition filed by the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the state, Okey Ezea on the grounds that it was an abuse of the court process.

The Tribunal upheld the election of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi in the April 11, 2015 governorship election who was awarded a cost of N150, 000 alongside other respondents.

Chairman of the tribunal, Justice Kwajafa Hildad, while delivering the judgement held that several paragraphs of Ezea’s petition vague and imprecise.

He emphasised that the petition contained criminal allegations against people who were not made parties to the case.

He said the petitioner failed to provide the voter’s register to corroborate his allegations of over-voting and non-accreditation, through the manipulation of the card reader by the Independent National Electoral Commission and other respondents.

The Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party in the state, Dr. Okey Eze while reacting to the judgement said it is a reflection of the wished of the majority of Enugu People.
