A popular Catholic Priest, Reverend Father Chinenye Oluoma, has disclosed why Christians all over the world celebrate Jesus on the 25th of December.

Oluoma’s disclosure was a reaction to the statement by the general overseer of the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM), Daniel Olukoya, that Christmas is “unbiblical”.

The Herald gathered that Reverend Oluoma disagreed with Olukoya, saying Christmas is celebrated by Christians as a mystery of the birth of Jesus Christ. The cleric, in a Facebook post titled Where Is It In The Bible?, further explained that there were many practices in Christianity which were not recorded in the Bible.

Oluoma stated that there are many other festivities such as mother’s day, attendance vigils, etc. that Christians engage in but are not in the Bible, adding that the scripture is not against their celebration.

According to him, “Easter as a term is not in the Bible but we celebrate easter because it’s an event and a mystery recorded in scripture. Same with Christmas, it’s not the term or calendar date we celebrate but the event and mystery,”

Oluoma also mentioned that there are many things Christians do that are not in the Bible and “God isn’t angry at all”. He added that such practices as December 31at cross over vigil, birthday parties, wedding anniversaries are also not in the Bible.

Earlier, The Herald reported that the general overseer of the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM), Daniel Olukoya, on Wednesday, December 25, revealed why his church does not believe in Christmas celebration.

The Herald gathered Olukoya said the celebration of Christmas is not stated in the bible. The pastor made this known at one of his sermons, “Manner Water Service” which coincided with the 2019 Christmas celebration, at the Church’s Headquarters in Lagos.

Olukoya maintained that no book in the bible recorded the word “Christmas” or that Jesus was born on December 25. According to the pastor, “If you really study the Bible from Genesis to Revelation, there is no word like Christmas.”
