1. Go for long-lasting foundations
One of the most obvious ways to make your foundation stay for a long time is to try your hand at some waterproof or long-lasting foundations that are easily available in the market.
2. Keep your skin oil-free
If you have an oil-free skin, then this will prevent the foundation from sliding off. If you do have oily skin, then you can go for a matte, oil-control moisturizer. It would also help if you keep blotting paper handy so as to take care of excess oil.
3. Select the right foundation formula
Since different foundation formulas work for different skin types, it is essential that you know which formula works best for you. If your skin is oily, then opt for mineral foundation, oil-free liquid formulas, or powder foundation. Mineral foundations tend to stay longer. In case of dry skin, try liquid or cream foundation.
4. Use a brush
If you use a brush to apply the foundation, it will not only give an even finish but will also give you the perfect coverage. Such seamless application will make your foundation stay longer. For mineral foundation you can use a kabuki brush and can go for a flat top brush to apply liquid foundation.
5. Prime your face
If you use a silicone based primer for priming then it will prevent your foundation from rubbing off. You will be using less amount of foundation and will still be getting flawless skin to apply the foundation on.
6. Cleanse, exfoliate, and moisturize
If you apply the foundation after the cleansing, exfoliating, and moisturizing, then the foundation will spread evenly on your skin and stay there longer.
7. Apply the foundation in the right quantity
Remember that if you apply excessive foundation, it does not guarantee that it will stay on for a long time. You can first put some amount on your brush and try to increase the coverage slowly by adding more foundation. This will prevent your face from having those ugly creases.
8. Apply some powder over the foundation
Once you are done with the application of the foundation, it is essential that you seal it by using a finishing powder. If you are using cream or liquid foundation, then you can use a finishing/translucent powder. In case of a mineral foundation, make use of a mineral veil.
