All Share Index Loses 216 Points As Investors Remain Cautious

Despite the swearing in of Ministers yesterday, the All Share Index of the Nigerian Stock Exchange did not respond to news of the appointments, recording a loss of 0.74% as investors concerns persist; the ASI gained 0.12% in yesterday’s trading session. The All Share Index lost 216 basis points to end the day at 28,796.67 basis points. Market Capitalization for the market at the close of trading today was N9.89 Trillion.

The total of number of deals recorded today on the floor of the local bourse were 2,990 a reduction from 3,721 deals sealed yesterday; the total volume of shares traded on the floor today were 167,289,600 while the total value of transactions recorded today was N1.3 Billion.

CAP led the gainers chart today adding N1.95 to close at N40.95 followed by STANBIC and UAC-PROP which added N0.89 and N0.33 to close at N20.89 and N6.94 respectively; IKEJAHOTEL and DANGFLOUR added N0.15 and N0.11 to close at N3.48 and N2.53 respectively.

The losers chart was led by NESTLE who lost N7 to close with a share price of N810 followed by 7UP and WAPCO who lost N4.40 and N3.75 to close with share prices of N180.10 and N90 respectively; NB and ETI lost N2.97 and N0.58 to close with share prices of N128.83 and N17.02 respectively.

The top five most actively traded shares by volume on the exchange today were ZENITHBANK with shares valued at N314 Million, NASCON with shares valued at N104 Million, GUARANTY with shares valued at N319 Million, SKYEBANK with shares valued at N24 Million and ACCESS with shares valued at N57 Million.

Market breadth closed negative as CAP led 12 Gainers against 26 Losers led by NESTLE for the second day in a row.

Year-To-Date currently stands at -16.90%.
