The General Overseer of Omega Power Ministry (OPM), Apostle Chibuzor Gift Chinyere, has said he is considering closing down a free school recently opened by the church in Toto Community of Nasarawa State following threats by private school operators.
He disclosed this in a statement he shared on his verified Facebook page on Wednesday.
Apostle Chibuzor said that the OPM Free School is located at 3 Angwan Biri Ara Junction, KM 1 Along Nasarawa Toto Road.
He said that pupils that have just been enrolled in the school were provided with free school bags, school sandals, school canvas, school bags, and school books.
He said that on Wednesday, June 14, the Association of Private Schools Operators stormed the school to issue a warning for the school to cease operation as its existence was ruining their business.
According to him, the operators threatened to return on Friday, June 16 to enforce their threat.
Apostle Chibuzor, who is a well-known philanthropist, urged the Toto community elders to call the private school operators to order or the school would be moved to another state.
The cleric said, “What is really going on? I’m really getting very tired of all these nonsense. Or do I stop all help and assistance?
“Today 14 June 2023, Association of Private School Operators has given OPM Free School NASARAWA State 3 days to close down the school. That if the Free school doesn’t close down, they will come in group on Friday.
“I want to use this medium to inform the community leaders of TOTO.
“If the ASSOCIATION OF PRIVATE SCHOOLS OPERATORS succeed in their threat on Friday, OPM free school will be moved out of your community and given to another neighboring state.
“Remember your children has already started school today. OPM has already distributed. Free school bags. Free school sandals. Free school canvas. Free school bags. Free school books.
“All OPM free schools are open for Muslims and Christians of other denominations and it is 100 percent sponsored through tithes and offerings from OPM church.”
Apostle Chibuzor added, “ACT NOW BEFORE THE SCHOOL GOES TO NEIGHBORING STATE. My major worry is this children that are already happy to start school.”
