Arsenal is fast flat-lining as Man City thrashed Ljungberg’s men in embarrassing manner

It was a show of horror after a brief glimmer of hope on another Game Week that saw Manchester City thrashed Arsenal right in their own home, the Emirate Stadium on Sunday.

Kevin De Bryne scored twice one as early as the second minute of the game and another on the 40th minute with Raheem Sterling starring for a goal in between the Belgian’s two masterclasses to see Man City wrapped up the game in the first half of the match.

It’s looking too soon for Freddie Ljungberg to take charge as the head coach at such a high level after a run of one win from five matches since the sack of coach Unai Emery a few weeks back. Having enjoyed a stellar time as coach of the Youth Team and steering them to a couple of great seasons it was only fair to give the ex-Invisible a shot at the job but he looked powerless and out-of-sorts as his counterpart out-witted and out-manoeuvred him both on-pitch and on the sidelines.

A barren second half on Sunday speaks not so much of a proper reaction from the Gunners but more about the kind of season the Champions have had. They haven’t quite been at their sharpest this season and with certain key players absent from the team, the depth of their defence has come under revelation.

City still trail log leaders Liverpool by 14 points and to say they will catch up might be a pipe dream but they reminded us on Saturday of what the team can do and the kind of firepower they possess. One might even argue that had Leroy Sane been fit and Aymeric Laporte and other key players nursing one injury or the other been fit, the title race will look very different but football is football.
