Bearish Sentiments Leads to All Share Index 0.23% Loss

The Nigerian Stock Exchange All Share Index ended the day down by 0.23% to close at 30,042.38 basis points. After five straight sessions of losses were halted yesterday, expectations were rife for a positive day. However, bearish sentiments and loss of investor’s confidence led to a loss.

The total volume of transactions reduced by 2.69%; from 307,989,308 to 299,700,382 shares. The value of shares traded today reduced by 29.46% as against the value traded yesterday, while the number of deals recorded reduced by 18.53%.

Apart from the LOTUS and Industrial index that ended the day in the green, the NSE 30, Banking, Insurance, Oil and Gas and Consumer Goods index ended the day in the red, while the ASEM Index remained unchanged.

UBA was the most actively traded stock by volume today as 65,946,239 units of its shares were exchanged. ACCESS, SKYE, GUARANTY and NIGERINS completed the list of the five most actively traded stock on the exchange today.

Market breadth closed in the negative as DANGCEM led 5 Gainers against 38 Losers led by GLAXOSMITH.

Year-To-Date stands at -13.32%
