3 Min Read

This is the 21st century, 2016 precisely and social media has come to stay. Celebrities have used Social media as a means to get in touch with fans and keep them updated in real time, but while this is good, fans have also taken the medium to express their love and otherwise.

More recent in the trend is Celebrity bashing from fans who have the medium to get their message across.

The bashing has made rounds however on several celebrities ranging from Toolz Oniru (@ToolzO) who has been insulted severally in the past for her body size, “wrong” photo shoot, dress and more recently about her birthday wish on Instagram to the duo Psquare.

Teebillz who recently put up a caption under his picture on instagram which led to accusations of domestic violence.

And more recently the attack on Nollywood actor IK Ogbonna’s wife, Sophia who was attacked by an affliate of another celebrity claiming all she had on in a picture posted online were fake and “should throw it out”. The photos were of designer shoes and bags bought for her on her birthday by Ik.

These bashings and accusations are not limited to music artistes, actors and actresses as Ali Baba and Basket mouth, both comedians have received their fair share of the “Bad Belle” to mention a few other celebrities.

While some Celebrities keep calm and let it slide, others who can’t stomach such disrespect engage such slander with comments which would later come off as offensive with the public expecting an official apology from them.

Just after the Headies award, fans and ‘haters’ took to Twitter to Insult Di’ja for “jumping around like a baby”. Eva Alordia just after she was proposed to on The Headies stage was attacked on TwitterNG and she shot back, with venom.

The question remains, must Celebrity bashing continue?, “Is that why we are here?”, we often forget that these big screen individuals are humans and bound to make mistakes with the public eye to pick up on, I believe fans and haters should cut these Celebrities some slack and correct them in love if any wrong or mistake on their part is ever observed.
