Gunmen, on Sunday, invaded a church at Igbedi community in Kolokuma-Opokuma council of Bayelsa state, kidnapping an engineer.
The gunmen who may have trailed their victim to the church as reported by a source also shot and injured the officiating minister, Rev. Ezekiel Obata.
The kidnapped engineer was reported to have been forcibly taken away at about 12:40am, an action which triggered commotion in the place of worship.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, Asinim Butswat also confirmed the incident further adding that the injured minister was rushed to a neighbouring community clinic for treatment. He stated that intensified efforts are being put in place in order to rescue the kidnapped engineer and arrest the kidnappers.
